The Conflict Session
The Conflict Session
One conflict, worked through once. Structured, not therapy.
01 / 04 · What it is
One conflict, worked through once.
Most cofounder disagreements get talked about in the same room, in real time, by the two people who are already inside the pattern. A Conflict Session changes the order. You each work through it alone first, and the two of you arrive at the same shared picture at the same moment.
It is not therapy, not mediation, and not a verdict on who is right. It is a structured way to get one conflict in front of both of you at once, followed by a single guided conversation and a short window to check whether the fix actually held.
If you have not yet named what is happening, start with the cofounder conflict guide — the Conflict Session is what you run once you know which conflict you are dealing with. Not sure there is a real gap yet? Run a free alignment check first.
02 / 04 · How it works
Four stages, in order.
The order is the mechanism. Skip a stage and the ones after it lose most of their value.
1. Solo work.
About forty minutes, on your own. You tell it raw — not the fair version, the one you actually replay — and answer questions built to locate where the conflict sits and what is actually underneath it. Your cofounder does the same, separately. Neither of you reads what the other wrote.
2. The shared picture.
Built from both accounts and released to both of you at the same moment. It opens with how far apart you placed this conflict, which is often the single most useful thing on the page — the gap is a finding, not something to smooth over.
3. The repair conversation.
One structured conversation, guided by where you actually are — not a rehash of the incident that brought you here.
4. Two-week scaffolding.
You leave with one specific, observable request each — not a list. In two weeks you are looking at what changed, instead of arguing about whether anything did.
03 / 04 · How it's built
What you write is treated like it matters.
Before you answer anything, you are shown exactly what will be shared with your cofounder and what will not.
- The raw version is deleted. Once we have read your story back to confirm we got it right, it is gone — not archived, not soft-deleted.
- Some answers stay yours alone. A small number of fields, including the hardest question in the session, are never shown to your cofounder. That is not a privacy setting — it is what makes those questions answerable honestly in the first place.
- Nothing is scored. You are told where the shared picture places things and get the final word on it, not a number.
- A safety check runs first. If what you describe needs a different kind of help than a structured conversation, the session stops and points you toward it instead.
04 / 04 · When to use it
Use it once the conflict is real.
Reach for a Conflict Session when any of these hold:
- The same disagreement keeps returning, unchanged, after you have tried to settle it.
- One of you has stopped raising it at all.
- It has moved from the decision to the person.
- You are both avoiding a conversation you know is overdue.
For a conflict that has already reached open struggle — threats, ultimatums, a decision already made to walk — bring in a professional mediator rather than software. For everything earlier on the curve, this is built to be the first structured move. The cofounder conflict guide covers the underlying causes and the repair framework this session puts into practice.
05 / 05 · Questions
The Conflict Session, answered.
01
What is a Conflict Session?
A structured way to work through one cofounder conflict, start to finish. You each spend time alone first, a shared picture is built from both accounts, you have one guided conversation, and a two-week follow-through turns the outcome into something you can check, not just remember.
02
Do we do it together or separately?
Separately, first. Each of you spends about forty minutes alone, and neither reads what the other wrote until the shared picture is ready. It opens for both of you at the same moment.
03
What happens to what I write?
The raw version of your story is deleted once we have read it back to you and confirmed we got it right. A small number of your answers are never shown to your cofounder — that is a structural rule, not a setting you have to remember to turn on.
04
Does it decide who is right?
No. Nothing in the session scores or ranks either founder. The output is a shared picture of where each of you actually is, and one specific request to carry forward — not a verdict.
05
Is this instead of therapy or a mediator?
No. It is not therapy and not mediation. A short safety check runs before anything else, and if what you describe needs a professional rather than a structured conversation, the session stops and points you toward the right kind of help instead.
06
How is this different from just talking it out ourselves?
Order. Two founders who talk it out live usually do it in the same room, in real time, each defending a position as they form it. Here you each think it through alone first, arrive at a shared picture instead of two competing accounts, and leave with one specific commitment instead of a conversation that resolved nothing new.
07
What does it cost?
It is free while we build it out. We would rather make it available now than hold it back for a price we have not settled on yet.
08
What if my cofounder does not want to do it?
You can still complete your own part and keep what you build. Your cofounder is not contacted when you start — the invitation goes out only once you finish, and it tells them you went first.
Put it into practice
One conflict, worked through once.
If you already know what this is about, a Conflict Session turns it into a structured conversation and a two-week commitment. Free while we build it out.
