Privacy Policy

At Founders Align, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform. We believe transparency is essential to building trust, just as it is in any successful co-founder relationship.

01

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and company information.
  • Alignment Data: Information you provide when completing our co-founder alignments and questionnaires.
  • Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with our platform, including pages visited and features used.
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
02

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our services, including personalized insights and recommendations.
  • To analyze co-founder dynamics and generate actionable feedback.
  • To communicate with you about updates, new features, and support inquiries.
  • To improve our platform through aggregated, anonymized data analysis.
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
03

Data Sharing & Third Parties

  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We may share data with service providers who assist in operating our platform (hosting, analytics).
  • Professional mediators and advisors you choose to work with may receive relevant alignment data with your consent.
  • We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our legal rights.
04

Data Security

  • All traffic between you and our services is encrypted in transit (TLS).
  • Our hosting and database providers encrypt data at rest as part of their own platforms.
  • Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
  • We hold no security certification today. We do not claim SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA or PCI-DSS compliance, and no independent penetration test has been carried out.
  • While we strive for security, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
05

Your Rights & Choices

  • How to use any of these rights: email privacy@founders-align.com. We will respond within one month. There is no self-service export or deletion button in the product today, so every request below is handled by a person.
  • Access: you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and for an explanation of what we do with it.
  • Correction: you can update your account information yourself, or ask us to correct anything else.
  • Deletion: you can ask us to erase your account and the data associated with it.
  • Portability: you can ask for the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Objection and restriction: you can object to processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests, and you can ask us to restrict processing while a dispute about accuracy or lawfulness is resolved.
  • Withdrawing consent: where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it. Withdrawing does not undo processing that already happened.
  • Marketing: you can unsubscribe from marketing at any time and keep your account.
  • Complaints: you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, or at ico.org.uk. You do not have to raise it with us first.
06

Data Retention

  • We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.
  • Alignment history is retained to provide longitudinal insights about your co-founder relationships.
  • You may request deletion at any time, and we will remove your data within 30 days.
  • Some data may be retained longer for legal or regulatory compliance.
07

Cookies & Tracking

  • We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect our forms. These do not need your consent, because the site cannot work without them.
  • We use product analytics to understand how the site is used. This is not strictly necessary, so it stays switched off until you allow it. We ask on your first visit, and refusing is one click, exactly like accepting.
  • If you allow analytics, we send our analytics provider an opaque account identifier. We do not send your name or your email address.
  • You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing switches capture off and clears the analytics identifier.
  • We do not use cookies for third-party advertising, and we have no advertising or marketing tags on this site.
08

Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this privacy policy from time to time.
  • We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
  • Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance.
  • We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.

Analytics on this site

We would like to measure how the site is used so we can improve it. That means product analytics, which records the pages you visit and how you move through them, and is not necessary to make the site work. Strictly necessary cookies — the ones that keep you signed in and protect the forms — stay on either way. They are exempt from consent because the site cannot work without them.
